The Perils of Selling Online

Good day. Hope you are all well. I'd like to talk about something that happened recently.

I got a message through one of my online shops, supposedly from a wedding company, about a potential custom order. It sounded good as it would have given me a month's worth of work! I replied with my prices etc and then bought the colour I needed. I knew I had to start soon otherwise I would never have finished it all in time. I had it all planned out; I knew how many I had to do per day etc and as soon as the ball came, I started on the project.

I don't normally do this. For a project this size I usually like some of the payment up front before I start, but I only had a few weeks to complete the order. I had hoped that I'd create a few pieces and then they'd get back to me with a definite yes or no within a few days. A week later, still no response. I decided to contact them through their own website, still nothing.

I now think that it was a scam! :( I can usually spot scams but this looked legit.

I don't normally do posts like this, but this was a very frustrating experience for me.

On the plus side I now have lots of pieces to list on Etsy. Just need to sew in the ends and photograph them, so you'll probably see them this week.

New Items And Updates

~New items~

'Rosetta' - this Victorian inspired pendant was tatted in ecru cotton thread and features tiny pale gold seed beads with a freshwater pearl sewn into the centre. It hangs from an antique copper chain. For more info and to purchase this click here.

'Marie' - these simple yet stylish napkin rings were tatted in variegated blue cotton thread. Find the set of two here and the set of four here. If you would like more, please contact me on Etsy and I can create a custom listing for you.

'Marie' - I tatted these napkin rings in a gorgeous multicoloured yellow, green and orange cotton thread. They would look great at an outdoor summer party.

This was my prototype design. I have since changed the pattern slightly so I'm listing these as a one of a kind (OOAK) set on Etsy here.

Hope you like these new pieces.

~Currently working on~

I'm working on a few items.

I've just completed a Spring inspired bracelet that I aim to list in the next few days. I'm trying one of my pendant patterns as a pair of earrings. If they work I'll show you some pictures, hopefully tomorrow.

I'm also just about to start tatting some more napkin rings using my 'Marie' pattern. How do you feel about black and red together?

Keep updated on all the latest Tatania Rosa news on my Facebook page and Twitter.

 Have a nice Monday,

New Project Part 2: The Reveal

~The reveal~

For Part 1 click here.

I can now reveal what I've been working on.

Cards!

I've created them using satin fabric, tatted butterfly and flower motifs and white card. Each comes with a matching envelope in a sealed cellophane bag. What do you think? They are all now available to purchase in my Etsy shop here.

I'm working on more cards. These will be available soon.

Bridal Pendants

~Bridal pendants~

'Christina' - I used my earring pattern of the same name for this but created it in a thicker thread. It was tatted in high quality white cotton thread and features a Swarovski Crystal bead at the base. For more information and to purchase this on Etsy click here.

'Rosetta' - this was created, in tatting, in white cotton thread and features fifty six tiny silver lined seed beads with a Swarovski Crystal bead at the base. Available here.

'Isabella' - this one was sold and relisted. Find it here.

These lace creations would look lovely at weddings.

I hope you like them.

New Project Part 1: The Sneak Peek

~Sneak peek~

For Part 2 click here.

Last week I had a fun new idea involving fabric and tatting. I'm not going to reveal all quite yet but here are a few pictures to whet your appetite.

I started by tatting a 'branch' motif. This was my first time using three threads together and I was very happy when I'd worked out a method for this. After finishing the design I then pulled out my long neglected embroidery hoop and started sewing the lace to some fabric. Next up - butterflies:

I now have some cutting and gluing to do.

I'm so excited to show you the finished item and I hope you love it. I aim to have it finished by the end of this week.
