Shipping To The US Update.

Afternoon everyone. I have news for all you lovely people in the US.

As you've probably heard, the de minimis for packages under $800 entering the US finished at the end of August. This means I needed to wait for Royal Mail to create a way for the tariff fees to be prepaid and then to check it was all working. Having kept an eye on forums and social media, I now feel confident enough to start posting to the US again on Etsy!

I've done some calculations and will need to add in shipping fees to my listings again. It will be $5 per order (with $0.50 for extra items) but I'm making shipping free for purchases $35 and over. Doing it this way means you won't have any extra fees to pay when your package reaches the US. Digital tatting patterns are unaffected.

It would be nice if this Executive Order was rolled back but until then, this is the best way I can do it.

In other news, I've just listed a one of a kind lace bookmark in my Etsy shop. This one started life as an order but I realised soon into it that I'd added too many double stitches for the chains (making it much longer) so I decided to finish it and sell it as a one off piece. It's just over 7 1/2 inches long and features over 400 stitches.

It is ready to ship and you can find it here.

More updates soon,

Heather x

New Yarn!

Good afternoon. I hope you're all well.

I have some new Etsy listings to share with you.

First up is 'Fuchsias' - a hand painted 4 ply / fingering weight cotton yarn in magenta and violet. Find it here.

I've also listed two skeins of 'Candy Floss and Clouds' - a super chunky / super bulky merino wool yarn in pink, purple, blue and white. This yarn is so soft and squishy! 😍 They are available here.

I'm currently photographing more squishy goodness and will have these available soon. Keep an eye on here, twitter, Facebook or Instagram for updates.

Yet More Hand Dyed Thread

Good evening all. I hope the weather is nice where you are. It's been hot here but I must admit it would be nice if it cooled down a bit as it is difficult to work in this heat.

I don't have much to share this evening apart from an update on my hand dyed thread. On Thursday I painted some more size 20 thread in new colours. I seem to be painting this size more than any other at the moment; I suppose it's because I love tatting with this thickness. Do you have a favourite thread thickness? I'm hoping to paint more sizes soon to add to the 20 and 10.

So the skeins have now dried and been twisted up. I wasn't sure how they would turn out and even though they are a tad more muted that I was hoping, I still think they look great. Keep an eye on my Instagram page for a sneak peek soon and, once I've finished working on some large orders, I'll photograph and list them on Etsy.

Have a nice day,

Heather x

Hi all,

I can now reveal what I've been up to for these last few weeks:

Hand dyed thread!

I finally started experimenting this year and I absolutely love the process. So far I have four skeins ready and this above is the first. It was dip dyed to create this ombre effect. Each one is this style will be unique due to how it is created, so I've decided to number them.

It is available here.

Unveiling of new range of housewares

I've been working on this project for a while now and I have finally got to a point where I can start listing them.

I started off with my 'Valencia' heart design but instead of tatting a loop at the bottom, I created another heart as if looking through a mirror. The next step was to join this to another double heart, as shown below.

I then tatted a third motif to this and connected it all up.

This was my prototype design. It is exactly how I pictured it in my head but it was too big! I then tried it again with less double stitches in the middle of each motif but alas, still too big!

So, third time lucky, I decreased the size of each motif.

Ta da!

It's now the perfect size for.....

drum roll....

Napkin rings!

Click here for the Etsy listing.

What do you think? I'm really pleased with how they've turned out.

The napkin rings above were created in my 'Eva' pattern using the same red cotton thread and can be purchased here.

I've also listed some customizable napkin rings: you choose the colour.

I'm currently working on more housewares so keep your eyes peeled.

Etsy and tatting

Today I'd like to show my appreciation for the wonderful world of Etsy.com. Etsy is the place to buy and sell all things handmade. It contains thousands of shops of people from all over the world selling anything from jewellery and clothes to cosmetics and accessories, all handmade by themselves. I've found a lot of good products on there covering all price ranges. These people put a lot of love and attention into their products and this shows. I have to resist the urge to keep buying things.

I've placed the Etsy mini on the right of this page. Mine seems to be mostly corsets and medieval dresses at the moment. I suppose it fits with who I am. Most of the blogs on the left are of Etsians, check them out.

This brings me nicely to my next point. For the last year or so I've been tatting. This is a form of lace made by a series of knots. It is very durable and also elegant. Last December I discovered Etsy by accident through a Google search. I immediately realised that I could turn my hobby into a job. I would never have dreamed that this was possible but Etsy opened my eyes to a handmade world.

The pictures below show one of my own designs 'Elizabeth'. The first one is the black and red bracelet and the second one the red and cream necklace. I've also done these in other colours. I'd love to know what people think. I'm nearly set up and ready to go and I hope to become a seller very soon.
