Something special for you all

Hi all. Tomorrow is International Tatting Day and to celebrate I shall be eating lots of chocolate and doing something special in my online shops.

I shall be having a one days sale on selected items in my Etsy shop and my Artfire shop. Follow me on twitter and Facebook to find out when this will start and what tatting creations will be discounted.

Spread the word and happy shopping.

I've been busy

I've decided to set up a new online shop. This one is on Artfire. I aim to list mostly items that will only be available in this one place. You do not need an account to buy on Artfire so they don't keep your details. Below are some of the pieces that I have already listed.

One of a kind silver dangle earrings here
Limited edition white and gold pendant here
Black and gold pendant here
Lilac and white medieval cuff here

What do you think? The silver dangle earrings look a while to create as the chains were pretty fiddly but I love the result. I've only made one of these so once it's gone, it's gone! The white and gold pendant is number 1 of 2 so this is pretty unique. The other two can be created in other colours. Please contact me with your request if you would like a custom piece.

I've also listed some more piece over on Etsy:

Black and purple mini top hat here
Black medieval cuff here
One of a kind white and steel grey pendant here
Lilac flower pendant here
White medieval pendant here

I've had a couple more ideas but that's for another day.

We are less than three weeks away from the epic Game of Thrones premiering on HBO and Sky Atlantic (amongst other stations)! HBO are spoiling us with loads of videos and they've even got a food truck going around NYC this week and LA next week. Wish I lived in America! They've also been giving us enjoyable puzzles over the last few weeks. Follow this link to join the fun!

Have a nice day,

Update to aid for Japan

Hi everyone. I stopped my appeal to help Japan last night and have now donated the money to the British Red Cross online. I have rounded it up so I have given them £4.

I screen grabbed this after making the donation. Thank you for your support.

Update on aid for Japan

As you may know I'm raising money for the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal through sales of my creations on Etsy until the 28th March.

Well as of today the total I'm giving them so far is: £3.36 (I always change the money into pounds as soon as the item is sold so this is to the exchange rate at that time)

Have a look in my Etsy shop for some great pieces of jewellery, accessories and more. You can buy something for yourself or a friend and know that 50% of the money (excluding shipping) will be going to a good cause.

Much love to you all,

Heather xxx

Artist aid for Japan

Hi everyone. My heart goes out to anyone affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

This was a terrible tragedy and I believe they need as much help as possible which is why I've set this up:

I've decided the best way I can help is to donate 50% of money from all sales I make in my Etsy shop (excluding shipping) to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal. I'm going to do this for a week starting today. I emailed this charity a couple of days ago to ask for permission and got a responce last night saying that would be fine.

I hope my creations can help someone in need. I will be updating my blog throughout the week with the amount I've raised. I will donate the money in one payment at the end of the 7 days. Please click through to my shop below.

There are many other artists doing similar things. Type 'artistsaid' or 'joyforjapan' in the search bar at the top of Etsy to find these.

Thank you,
Heather x

Frivolite and fantasy fun

I have lots of updates for you today.

First of all I've been working on a technique of tatting that is completely new to me - tatting round a plastic ring. In normal tatting you work your double stitches round a core thread but in this case the plastic ring acts as the core thread. This technique involves lots of looping the thread through the middle. It's slower but creates a wonderful end result!

For this one I used silver cotton thread, lots of tiny seed beads and a lovely celtic charm. This piece is a limited edition of four (I have very few of these charms). The first two went up on Etsy recently and then were snapped up very quickly! The third one is up for sale here.

I've also just listed a pair of cream and gold earrings using the same technique. This is my first one of a kind piece. These would look lovely with a prom dress or perhaps a corset. Buy the pair here.

I also have another pendant up on Etsy that uses this design. For this one I used a wonderful hand dyed thread from fellow tatter yarnplayer. Find it here.

What's next? Well I recently completed and listed my first wrist corsage. This piece is on an elasticated beaded bracelet so it will fit most wrist sizes. This is perfect for proms. Buy it here.
