Happy Halloween everyone!
What a great film this is! I've decided to watch The Nightmare before Christmas today muahaha! This is usually what happens this time of year; we sit down and watch something spooky, although I've seen quite a few horror films recently.
Four weeks ago BBC Four started a documentary by Mark (The League of Gentlemen) Gatiss about horror movies called 'A History Of Horror'. He went from the early days of Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff to (my personal favourite) Vincent Price and then finally to the 60s and 70s of 'The Night Of The Living Dead' etc. It was a brilliant series and I urge you to catch it if you can. For those in the UK here is the link to the BBC iplayer. I'm hoping it will be released on DVD soon.
BBC Four also decided to run several horror movies during this period. I caught 'The Witchfinder General' starring Vincent Price and the Hammer Horror Film 'The Brides of Dracula'. These are very cool films and I loved the plastic bats in the latter!
Speaking of Hammer Films, they've just started up again with the remake of the Swedish Vampire Film 'Let The Right One In', entitled 'Let Me In'. I'm interested in seeing this as I love the original.
They've also announced that they are creating a film based on the ghost story 'The Woman in Black' by Susan Hill and it will star none other than Daniel Radcliffe. I can't wait! I saw this as a stage play quite a few years ago and I remember being truly scared but I think that was due the sound effect of the thunder. I also finished reading the brilliant novel about a month ago. I strongly reccommend this book!
Oh we've also bought and watched the 1963 film 'The Haunting'. A great film but don't see it alone and in the dark!
Have a fun day,
